Time to get myself healthier. My detox cleanse starts Monday, for a week, in which time I am not having any...
-splenda
-sf cola
-gum
-candy
-stuff in boxes, like vanilla almond cereal (how I'll miss thee)
-sauces
-coffee
etc.
To successfully go through a detox (since I have chronic stomach problems, edema, etc. and I'm SICK of them all), natropathy recommends drinking water only (lemon added is a great kidney and liver filter), sticking to easily digestible fruits and veggies, and lightly steaming everything if you must (say, if you have ibs and raw veggies upset you).
So my mum has got me a lot of my produce already...kale, blueberries, raddichio, a freakin' HUGE watermelon, baby zucchini, celery, organic lemons, black plums, strawberries (I've eaten 1/3 today. ACK. Well, all I've eaten is melon. I LOVE fruit...especially cherries and watermelon and apricots, so when they are in season, I'll basically live on fruit and fruit alone). I even have gotten dandelion/ licorice/ etc. detox tea. It smells AWESOME - you have to boil it and them let it simmer. Aromatherapy, I tell ya. :^)
If anyone wants to be my detox buddy, to keep me on track, pm me k?? The benefits are supposed to rock: reduction in ulcers/ ibs symptoms, reduction of edema in people suspectible to edema, brighter whites of the eyes, renewed energy, reduction in allergic symptoms, lessened bouts of insomnia i.e.
My allergies have been horrendous this year and I'm hoping this helps. Also, they recommend quite a bit of light aerobic activity (additional intake of oxygen to help the cells), and different teas and drinks for lymphatic drainage. When the lymphatic system gets 'polluted', so to speak, and lymphedema can develop (which is very similar, symptom wise, to edema). So I'm pumped about this.
Plus, summer fruits. Yum.
